About Tax Appeal Map

Tax Appeal Map is a free, plain-English guide to appealing your property tax assessment. Each state page explains who values your home, the deadline to appeal, where to file, the official forms and fees, what evidence works, and which exemptions can lower your bill. You can estimate your savings and create an appeal letter in a few minutes.

Where the information comes from

We build every page from official sources: state revenue departments, statutes, appeal boards, tax tribunals and county assessors. The sources for each state are listed at the bottom of its page with the date we checked them. Tax rates and median tax figures come from U.S. Census data as published by the Tax Foundation. Read more in how we research and update our guides.

What this site is not

We are not lawyers, appraisers or tax consultants, and we are not affiliated with any government agency. Nothing here is legal or tax advice. For help with your situation, contact your assessor's office, your local appeal board or a qualified professional.

Independence

The guides and tools are free. We don't sell your information, and we don't take money to change what a guide says. If we ever show ads or recommend paid services, they will be clearly marked.
